Martinique

The Hidden French Gem of the Caribbean

Martinique Overview

Martinique is an overseas region of France that is part of the Lesser Antilles. The culture reflects a distinctive blend of French and West Indian influences while having a French flair when it comes to shopping and dining.  Its largest town, Fort-de-France, features steep hills and narrow streets with its magnificent Bay of Fort-de-France and La Savane, a garden bordered by shops and cafes. In the garden is a statue of island native Joséphine de Beauharnais, first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte.
