The Resort

The resort sits on a beach mid-island, convenient to town and the airport, but well away from waterfront development and cruise ship docks. This location also puts dive boats within range of all the most popular sites, from the southern reefs to Chakanaab and the signature Felipe Xicotencatl shipwreck. Tidy landscaping contrasts with surrounding jungle and the Caribbean, with a small marina flanking the property to the north.

Over the years, the Presidente has benefitted from a series of ongoing updates that have kept the property fresh and posh. The most recent renovation in the summer of 2016 included new room décors and furniture, updated bathrooms, and the addition of outdoor showers in some rooms. Beachside, there is a new infinity pool and hot tubs, private palapas and an new open-air restaurant and beach bar. These upgrades complement exising amenities that include a premier spa, fitness center and tennis courts and water sports.

The Diving

Some of Cozumel's best snorkeling and shore diving begins just off the Presidente InterContinental's beach. But the real attraction for divers is the on-site presence of Scuba Du, which for more than 25 years has remained as one of Cozumel's top-rated dive operators. In keeping with the resort's culture of five-star service, the dive staff delivers concierge diving service that combines professional, attentive assistance with individually-appropriate levels of diving freedom. This makes Scuba Du an ideal choice for new divers, and an equally attractive option for experienced and advanced enthusiasts who prefer an underwater experience that is safe but not restrictive.

With five fast, modern dive boats ranging from 28 to 37 feet in length, Scuba Du can arrange daily schedules to accommodate divers of varying interests and skill levels, as well as groups. All boats provide shaded seating, ample gear storage and large boarding ladders, and are equipped with DAN oxygen units. The three larger boats also offer bathrooms and freshwater showers, and though licensed for 16 passengers, they carry no more than 10 to 12 divers. The two fast outboard-powered boats carry a maximum of eight divers. To reduce plastic waste, guests are provided with a souvenir water bottle on arrival, which they can refill and reuse through their dive vacation.
